Cooperative Extension Service

The Bridger-Teton Voluntary Permittee Monitoring Committee had from it's beginning an important presence of the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service and Extension resources in the form of Department Of Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management faculty and Specialists.

In addition to the work with the committee in formulating the protocol, Specialist Kelly Crane and University Extension Educator from Sublette County, Eric Peterson collaborated with Forest Service Personnel in planning and hosting 4 winter workshops and 3 summer field workshops which introduced and trained permittees from Western Wyoming on the protocol. Extension and the Range Faculty have continued involvement in the development and installation of a number of voluntary permittee monitoring efforts across the forest.

It should be noted that Specialists Crane, Skinner, and Smith (having statewide responsibilities) have worked with the Forest Service and Permittees in developing monitoring programs in every Forest in the State. Individual County Extension Educators in the respecive counties are also involved in training permittees rangeland monitoring.
